TASTE
Long before the term ‘superfood’ was coined, Aboriginal peoples were using food as medicine, eating nutritionally dense bush tucker such as the slightly sour, slightly sweet tasting Kakadu plum.
Take a bush tucker tour of the Cadi Jam Ora – First Contact Garden at the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney with a First Nations educator to see and taste a range of bush foods that Aboriginal peoples have used as food and medicine for tens of thousands of years.

Top End Aboriginal artist Manuel Pamkal is one of only a handful of people who are still fluent in Dalabon, the native language of his Aboriginal clan. Dalabon was one of about 300 languages and dialects used by First Nations' people throughout Australia before colonisation. Tragically, the majority of those languages, including Dalabon, are either highly endangered or already lost.
Manuel is keen to share his unique language with visitors, as well as working to document it so it can be passed on to future generations. Take the opportunity to learn some Dalabon during Manuel's Cultural Experience, where he will share his stories of living off the land, and teach you some traditional painting methods.
